Reading Habits of 2024
This year I read a total of 89 books this year! The highest since I started keeping track in 2014. It was the 16 audiobooks that put me over the top – five more than any other year. 71 ebooks is only one short of the max in any given year.
Finishing off the remaining fifteen books in the Armand Gamache series I started last year I’ll admit occupied most of my reading time for the first three and a half months of 2024 (3.75 star rating from me for the series so far).
Other stand outs were Canticle Creek and The Wiregrass by Adrian Hyland. Will definitely follow the character of Jesse Redpath if he writes any more. And moving from Australia to a New Zealand setting, Remember Me by Charity Norman was also memorable.
My days per book when from 7.2 last year, to 5.1 this year which is about the fastest in about ten years. There may be a few short stories in there knocking that average down. Also my pages per day jumped from 53 to 69 – ten pages per day better than any other year. That number was so sus I exported and tallied from Goodreads twice to make sure my spreadsheet-fu hadn’t fubared.
Star ratings are very similar to last year with me giving an average rating of 3.46 starts compared to 4.03 by the Goodreads community. So seems like 2024 was another good year for books.
