YouTube, Adobe Air or Flash has no audio on Linux? You might need to stop your pulse.

Found after a recent update that I wasn’t getting audio anymore when viewing Flash content under linux (openSUSE 11.1 in this case). I’ve also been having a love/hate relationship with sound working with Adobe Air.

After a bit of a hunt around I found comment that it appears PulseAudio was the culprit. Updated the respawn setting in /etc/pulse/client.conf to the following:

autospawn = no

Then killed any running pulseaudio processes, restarted my browser and that seems to have done the trick.

Haven’t had to reboot yet, so we’ll see if that proves to be the final solution or a bit more tweaking will be called for…
